Light demolition is the middle ground between junk removal and a demolition contractor. Taking apart something small and non structural, then removing what is left, in one visit by one crew.

What it covers: small outbuildings, a small outbuilding, interior partition walls that carry no load, old kitchen cabinets and countertops, bathroom fixtures, built in shelving, a chimney breast that is already disused, paneling, dropped ceilings, and flooring down to the subfloor.

None of that is a junk hauler's work. Massachusetts regulates asbestos removal tightly and it requires licensed contractors. A hauler who sees suspect material and stops is doing exactly the right thing. Testing first is cheap compared with the alternative, which is having disturbed it.

Lead paint is the other one, for the same reason and the same era.
